Participial Adjetives

 


When expressing our emotions or when we give a description of something is where we put into practice the participial adjectives and these can be in two ways: 


- Present participle (ing)

- Past participle (ed)


The present participial adjectives or rather those that end in "ing", are the ones we use when describing someone or something.

  • I had an amazing trip.
  • Mexico city was certainly exciting.
  • I am reading an interesting book.
  • The safari was fascinating 
  • The ski trip was thrilling
  • The sky drive was frightening
  • The food was disgusting
    fascinating. (They were fascinated.)The safari was fascinating. (They were fascinated.)
  • The safari was fascinating. (They were fascinated
The past participial adjectives or, rather, the adjectives that end in "ed" are the ones we use specifically to express a feeling.
  •  I was so bored at the conference
  •  I felt amazed in the roller coaster
  • The meeting always makes me feel stressed
  • They were fascinated
  • They were thrilled
  • They were disgusted
Basically, adjectives ending in "ing" (present participle adjectives) are the cause and adjectives ending in "ed" (past participle adjectives) are the effect.
